Meet the Candidate

Joseph Edghill was born on May 22nd . He is married and has three children - John 31, Nancy 23 and Jomo 15 years of age.

Joe, as he is widely known, attended St. Lawrence Primary and Boys Foundation. A pharmacist by profession he has a BSc in pharmacology. He worked at Knights Ltd for five years and at Bookers Agency before establishing his own business.

Joe's list of social and community activities is impressive. He has been an organiser of the Oistins Fish Festival for 14 years; manager of Southern Stars Calypso Tent; manager of Exotic Sound Band; co-manager of JJ Promotions, secretary of the Pharmaceutical Society and an executive member of the Barbados Football Association. He is currently President of the Pride of Gall Hill Club.

He also devotes as much time as possible to the elderly and the youth in his constituency.

He identifies housing, sustainable jobs, small loans, improved roads and street lighting as the key needs of his constituents. But there are achievements to his credit - house repairs, sporting facilities, a social centre, road construction and small house spots. In addition, Joe's hopes for constituency improvement include reduction of unemployment and educational facilities for adults to retrain and better equip them for the work force.

He holds the view that his community involvement and close contact through his profession keep him in touch with his voters and as such he shares and experiences their concerns.
